CU Office of Student Activities presents annual awards
Cameron University’s Office of Student Activities presented awards to faculty, staff and students during a ceremony held last night on the CU campus. The event included the announcement of the Top 20, comprised of outstanding juniors and seniors, and the Top 10, made up of outstanding college students over the age of 25. A committee of faculty, staff and students selects honorees for both lists based upon the nominees’ grade point average, student activities, leadership and honors. Grades account for 40 percent of the total score, while activities make up 60 percent.
Comanche County students named to the 2009 Top 20 list are: Chattanooga: Megan Mefford; Elgin: Ryan Faucett, Tyler Johnson; Lawton: Lauren Bennett, Daniel Brown, Stacy Carden, Alex Castro, Amanda Finch, Christine Hanna, Margaret Hanna, Whitney Harstad, Julianne Moini, Ann Morris and Ashley Tate.
Making Cameron’s Top 10 list are: Fletcher: Teddy Neighbors, Lawton: Sabine Brown, Kyle Cunningham, Sylena Howell and Bryan Nies.
Misael Santiago, an instructor in the Department of English and Foreign Languages, was named Professor of the Year, while Krystle McGorgary, Women’s Hall Director, received the award for Advisor of the Year. Steve Scott, Maintenance Foreman for Cameron Village, was honored as Staff Person of the Year.
