The Comanche County 4-H Teen Ambassadors are scheduled to lead 3 fun learning workshops this summer. These workshops are geared for youth aged 9 to 12. The workshops are $5 each and the Teen Ambassadors are asking that you bring a can of food for the Food Bank or Humane Society to help with their community service project.

The workshops are scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, June 17th – AN ADVENTURE IN AEROSPACE will be held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Cache Cafetorium in the Cache Primary School. The group will explore concepts of aerospace while having fun! They will learn what is air pressure is and how it works. They will learn how an air plane lifts off the ground. They will learn about drag, thrust and gravity. There will be lots of hands on activities that demonstrate Newton’s Law of Motion and many other concepts of aerospace. Lunch will be provided at no additional charge.

Friday, June 26th – AROUND THE WORLD IN SIX HOURS will be held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Elgin 5th and 6th Grade Cafeteria. The group will explore Brazil, Germany and Japan. They will learn about each place; make a food item, a craft and play a game from each country. The children will make their own lunch at the workshop.

Thursday, July 16– AG IN OKLAHOMA will be held at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, Meeting Rooms, located between the coliseum and the annex from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. In this workshop children will learn about the area and how agriculture impacts us everyday. They will make butter and homemade bread from Oklahoma grains. They will play games and do activities to take home. This isn’t a day camp for kids on the farm but a fun way to learn how Oklahoma plays a role in the global economics. Children are asked to bring a bag lunch.

Space is limited and the Teen Ambassadors ask that you pre-register for these summer workshops by calling the County Extension Office at 355-1176.
